Look guys, i'm being serious.

Newgrounds was the site that I originally found Pencilmation as a kid and I was fricking hooked. I was even a fan of Ross's animations here and there as well and I still remain to do so as time fly by! However, as of late 2017...the new animations are centered around the pointless Pencilmate and the Mary Sue Pencilmiss, offering nothing new, also gone is one of my absolute favorite webtoon characters of all time, Hank Hanky.

However, since Ross Bollinger's show has sadly gone down the drain and lost respect for him and how his animations used to be good...I have a feeling to bring back Hank Hanky on a new animated educational cartoon series named "Hank Hanky's Tips", and i'm doing so too with Moho instead of either Toon Boom or Flash, even though i'm going to do overseas animation for the very first time when the final series is released probably next year.

Also for the first time on any series I do, a character I adapt/create wasn't voiced entirely by yours truly. He's going to be voiced by my good friend Matt Balk in this new series, thus, giving Hank a brand new voice that sounds like he is aged.

Oh well, pilot episode in production. Check for it on Newgrounds (this site baby!) when I decided to release it.

You saw the subject. Along with AKWT0035/Hunter, who is from South Korea, I am currently producing a new series titled "Mr. Hanko" (Haengko Ssi in romanized Korean.), making this my first series to be made by a different person, and the first to be a Korean collaboration due to my addiction on asian stuff (and also my first Korean series in a whole).

I am planning that each cartoon will be 1 minute long, each following the goofy adventures of Hanko and his friends. And, just like with any other cartoon, will get into fast paced shenanigans because...it's common on every Korean cartoon, isn't it?

Like many of my series, it will be (painfully) made at Moho using the same animation style and music as my PicPak shorts. My animation style was a reminicent of Cro et Bronto (and for those who don't know who it is, it was a 1979 cartoon from DIC Entertainment and as well as one of their first cartoons to date.) for those who are wondering; both are choppy and lazy, but my take on it has a bit of charm into it that will make my people sometimes fall in love with it, and also has a fast pace to it unlike the aforemention's pace.

Oh, and I will dub it in Korea all by myself if I had the time.

Anyway, that's all I can say. Check on Newgrounds for more crazy cartoons with sometimes shocking moments.

Hey everyone! I never talked about it on Newgrounds, but I wanna talk about it for the first time!

So, back in the days at DIC Entertainment on 1982, there was a bumbling and helpful inspector called Gadget. Inspector Gadget. The series was well known to be one of DiC's first cartoons to be made for American audiences, but can be also be viewable on France. But before that, there was 'The Littles', one of their first cartoons to be made for american audiences. But did you know there were 2 unknown cartoons that were also made by DIC Entertainment before Gadget even existed? Well, that is the topic for today's news post: DiC's Forgotten Cartoons!

6931601_153056602962_DiCCountdown.png

DiC Entertainment was an animation (but sometimes live-action) studio formed in 1971 as OSAP and as a division of RTL Group. They were known for doing some memorable cartoons such as the infamous Nintendo adaptations, Inspector Gadget, The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, the Archie adaptation, and many others. On 1978, DiC's first cartoon was starting to begin in production in co-production with Antenne 2. On 1979, production has finished and never aired until March 1980 on Antenne 2 as time fillers during commercial breaks. It's called 'Cro et Bronto', also known as 'El Cro y el Bronto' in Spain. Below is the title card for the cartoon.

6931601_153056650261_CroetBrontoTitleCard.png

This was notable for being DiC's first animated series and in similar fasion to movie theaters playing cartoons before a movie as fillers, it was played on French TV's as time fillers during commercials and was a co production with Antenne 2. It's about a funny caveman named Cro and his backfiring attempts to catch Bronto. This is similar to Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, but with a caveman and a brontosaurus. There are only 23 shorts resurfaced on the internet so check the shorts out by clicking on this RuTube link:

https://rutube.ru/search/?query=Cro%20et%20Bronto

The series is also notable for being the introduction of Space Goofs and Oggy and the Cockroahces creator Jean-Yves Raimbaud, who worked on DiC as an animator and taught himself how to do cartoons. He later worked with Xilam Multimedia to created the Space Goofs and the ever popular Oggy and the Cockroaches cartoon series of shorts in both 1997 and 1998. Now, here are some screenshots of the currently resurfaced shorts, founded by Le Pays du Manga.

'BOULDER' (on YouTube):

'UNDER THE SEA':

6931601_153056755762_CroBrontocap2.png

I will make that face seen in here as my profile picture. X-D

'AIRPLANE':

This animation was reused two times. I forgot to add is that the series has too much reused animation! Especially Bronto's walk cycle!

I will later edit this one to take a look at Archibald the Magic Dog, DiC's second cartoon series of shorts and the first (and only series) to not have their logo and the first to be a major collaboration. Stay tuned! :-D

It used to be good and fun, but now, what happened??

Hello, everyone, welcome to ReBlue Rants! On Newgrounds! Today, let's talk about a web series that I actualiy like and as of today, I still grew up with it. Presenting: Pencilmation from 2004!

Okay, this is not going to be the usual 'Positives or Negatives' type, instead, it will be more like a rise and fall review of the series from it's start, to it's decline. Similar to Saberspark's 'What Ruined?' videos. Now let's get started to the rise and fall of Pencilmation right away.

Pencilmation was a series of cartoon shorts that was created in 2004 by Ross Bolinger, a.k.a. the person that inspired me to draw. The first short introduces us to a unnamed character that will soon will be later redesigned numerous times and was called 'Pencilmate'. The series was proved to be one of the most successful cartoon short series ever created, from likeable characters and memorable shorts. One of the most famous of them all is 'Hank Hanky', a character that was extremely part of my life. I bought his t-shirt, I watched the Hank Hanky show, and of course, have the Pencilmation shorts on DVD! It features rare animations by Ross, all of the classic Pencilmation shorts, rare drawings, postcards, and even a drawing of a smiley Hank IN a PayPal cost paper! Ross Bollinger was one of the best animators of them all and as a fan of him, I wanna thank him for that. The cartoon was still a success though, with clever references to Mario, Hulk, and even the infamous 'Elsa and SpiderMan' ones. The cartoon never gets old. Just look at those comments!

6931601_153030630412_PencilmationComments.png

Now, later, Pencilmate was introduced to the cast. But the premise is the same: the characters interact with the pencil leading into hilaraious results. Now, that doesn't mean that almost all Pencilmate shorts are bad, but there are some worse ones, so the Pencilmate era of Pencilmation is hit and miss. Such as 'Cake it and Bake it'. But I praise everyone for their hard work and talent (and also effort) they have put into these shorts. Notably Joshua Palmer because of the smoother animation he had put into these shorts.

Now, Elsagate came into the scene. You know, these stupid videos that tried to parody some franchises, but instead getting into adult situations? Yes, I hate that one. Now naturally, when color was introduced to the series, Pencilmate was now warming out it's welcome, and featured more characters in the series such as the red guy, the old senior, and the character that I personally hate, Mini P.. Look, I still praise the animators for their talent still, but...now most of the video titles now consist of adding 'Pencilmation Cartoons for Kids' or 'Pencilmation Compilation for Kids', and it was extremely stupid for Ross Bollinger to do something like this! And that is now refered as the death for Pencilmation. No, I am not kidding, here is an example for a video title from one of the recent Pencilmation shorts, this time is 'For Crying Out Loud' and answer me why Pencilmation is now dead and truly jumping the shark!

6931601_153030631881_PencilmationTitleExample.png

See? Did you look at the title? How 'out of ideas' can Ross handle? 100? Anyway, most of the stories for today's Pencilmation are now getting worse and worse and worse! Seriously, it is now going into the Elsagate writing. The most infamous one was 'Remote Controlled', which has the most disliked story I have ever seen. But many people liked it! Why?! Oh, the comments section for now is now garbage and not understandable, most of the comments are Spanish, gibberish or a toy channel praising the short without noting the problems! Okay, just take a look at the comments from old Pencilmation videos.

6931601_153030633472_PencilmationComments.png

And now take a look at the comments from TODAY'S Pencilmation. Cringe alert, you may hate yourself saying 'I don't want to live on this planet anymore!'.

6931601_153030634751_PencilmationComments2.png

Looking at these comments, is basically what I have mentioned before: kid channels praising it without pointing the problems. The most hilarious comment I can ever suffer was the Wumbo one from Justin Y.! This can make it for a great internet meme reference! Remember the SpongeBob episode where Patrick says 'I wumbo, you wumbo, he she me, wumbo?'? This can have like a crossover!

Now, moving on to the problems of the comments section are the spanish ones. Seriously, they are just praising it with no mentions of what is bad. Here is an example of them, I am going to put 3 of them to make sure that I am mentioning this. Cringe alert!

6931601_153030636281_PencilmationComments3.png

An example of why these spanish comments are out of place for Pencilmation. They are just simply saying first and the other telling them to shut up. Next one.

6931601_153030637653_PencilmationComments4.png

Here is another example of these comments. Now, Zury Reyes is saying that if the world will stop. Following this are gibberish replies, a comment that is boatloaded with emojis, and the other is saying that they don't allow spanish (or french!). Now, next one and last. Hope I don't get exposed...

6931601_153030639411_PencilmationComments5.png

Now, this is a comment of Joseph Chahuayo saying, whatever the heck is! 'Cause I have no idea where to start typing to the comment...

Overall, Pencilmation is not going everywhere. It started as a good quality cartoon for everyone, and had slowly became to one of those YouTube Kids cartoons, with s**t quality titles, comments and of course, the stories. I don't recommend watching the modern shorts. I recommend watching the old shorts shown in here, Newgrounds. Now, Ross Bollnger is a nice guy, but what about Hank? When is he going to return answering our calls and questions? Man, poor Hank Hanky needs to come back! We need this guy back like, forever! But no, Ross decided to not give a f**k about returning Hank Hanky and instead focus on Pencilmate and the gang and more cringy comments. Like with The Fairly OddParents, I recommend watching the old ones. In fact, watch the first Pencilmation I have ever watched, called 'Home is Where the Hurt Is' and 'The Hank Hanky Show'. But by all means, do NOT watch the new Pencilmation shorts.

RATING:

Old shorts: 9.5/10 (Good!)

New shorts: 1.0/10 (Meh.)
